EPIC UK: London Waste Truckads uses KWIK ZIP to send gree message

Kwik Zip Signage Helps Londonwaste Reduce Carbon Footprint, While Communcating With Consumers

EPIC Media Group - Hand Tool

Municipal vehicle branding specialist EPIC Media has applied its KWIK ZIP signage system to bulk waste trailers for the first time, extending the system's potential for turning waste and recycling collection vehicles into attractive mobile billboards.

KWIK ZIP was chosen by sustainable waste management company LondonWaste as its preferred solution for transforming its bulk compactor trailers. The company services the North London Waste Authority, the second largest waste disposal authority in the country with around 1.7 million people in seven London boroughs.

The KWIK ZIP system is comprised of lightweight aluminium frames onto which the vinyl graphics are literally zipped into place. These new trailers, along with hundreds of other vehicles used by local authorities and contractors for recycling refuse, now sport the robust easy-clean signage of the KWIK ZIP.

Sending Green Messages and Cutting Carbon
EPIC assisted in the conversions of these 40' trailers into high-impact promotional vehicles, while also supporting LondonWaste's carbon reduction program. Since the ribbed sides of the trailers are now covered with the smooth, more aerodynamic KWIK ZIP alloy-framed banners, LondonWaste's technical experts believe drag is reduced, which helps lower fuel consumption. This will be monitored over time.

Wendy Lord, corporate communications manager for London Waste, said the trailer refurbishment and new signage was part of the company's plans to achieve its environmental objectives and to improve its safety record.

Reusing Resources
"Reducing the waste we generate is part of our environmental philosophy so we wanted to reuse as much of our existing equipment as possible," explained Lord. "We grasped the opportunity to renovate the trailers and turn them into environmental message boards. These powerful message boards allow us to talk to real people, helping them to understand what LondonWaste does and what happens to their recycling and waste."

Describing working with EPIC as a 'partnership that exceeded expectations', Lord added: "EPIC worked quickly to deliver what we wanted. They understood our goals, and came up with an efficient and cost-effective solution."

EPIC Media's President, Shelley Smith, was 'delighted' to win the LondonWaste business, which she said 'shows the versatility of the KWIK ZIP signage system to transform working vehicles into visually attractive and powerful communications tools'.
